Community Café — Youth Participation Activity under Erasmus+
On the 16th of October, 2025 the Storytelling for Change participants reunited online — this time not as strangers meeting for the first time, but as a group of young changemakers who had shared a powerful journey together earlier this year at Sunseed Ecovillage.
Back in February, 20 participants from different countries spent several days at Sunseed Ecovillage, learning about sustainability, connection, and community life. It was there that they each committed to creating a local activity — something meaningful that would carry the spirit of empowerment and collective care back to their own communities.
This online meeting became a space to reconnect, share what unfolded, and celebrate the creativity that bloomed from those ideas — the successes, challenges, surprises, and moments of joy that came with turning vision into action.
The local activities reflected the lasting influence of the Sunseed experience in inspiring change throughout Europe. Some participants created spaces for people to come together — through open days, workshops, and community festivals. Others focused on caring for the environment, leading trash collecting walks, upcycling projects, and artistic initiatives that made sustainability something joyful and hands-on. A few took their passion into schools and youth groups, introducing Erasmus+ opportunities and sustainability topics to young people who might not otherwise have access. There were also new community-building initiatives — from founding local associations to organizing intercultural gatherings that brought rural youth together.
Some of these initiatives were hosted by partner organizations Sunseed (Spain), Catfarm (France), Ängsbacka (Sweden), and SerVivo (Portugal), who also provided mentorship to the young organizers. The wider local community had the opportunity to experience aspects of ecovillage life firsthand, inspiring many to bring these practices, values, and ways of living back to their own homes and communities. The activities were co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme.

Each action, no matter how small, carried the same essence: courage, creativity, and the belief that connection begins with a simple step. Together, they painted a picture of how learning in community can ripple outward — touching neighborhoods, schools, and villages across Europe.
🌍 Seeds for the Future
As the meeting came to an end, there was laughter, emotion, and a sense that something bigger had grown than just a project. For many, it was their first time leading an event; for others, it opened new project ideas — videos, silent walks, or even new Erasmus initiatives are already taking shape.
The coordinators, Allegra and Anita, closed the gathering with heartfelt gratitude:
“This all started as a small idea. Seeing how it grew — how each of you took leadership and created something from your heart — that’s the real success of Community Café.”
The journey continues ✈️
Community Café will keep sharing its path online, creating spaces for reflection and inspiring more young people to take action in their own communities. Each story is a reminder that meaningful transformation often begins with small, local steps — and grows stronger when we walk together, sparking waves that reach the wider community and planting seeds that can grow far beyond it.
