Dream Green – Come Together: A Youth-Led Gathering in Ängsbacka

On June 7, 2025, the Swedish ecovillage of Ängsbacka hosted Dream Green – Come Together, a one-day event designed to bring people together around sustainability and community living. The event was organised by young participants from the Community Café Project, part of the Erasmus+ programme, who had previously met at Sunseed for the Storytelling for Change international mobility (as shown in the image above).

Two weeks before the event, the organisers arrived early to prepare—and to experience Ängsbacka as volunteers. They joined community activities, took part in courses, and got to know the place and its people.

To spread the word, they even went to nearby Molkom to hand out flyers and chat with locals about the event.

Morning: Community Tour, Connection and Body Awareness Exercises

The event began with a guided tour of Ängsbacka led by Emelie and Cornelia. Attendees explored the community, met its members, and learned about how the ecovillage operates. This was followed by an informal tea break and a clothes swap, where conversations flowed naturally and connections began to form.

This was followed by guided body awareness exercises, helping everyone relax, recharge, and tune into their own wellbeing. Veronica led the yoga session, while Yasmin sang and guided a sound journey focused on coming to the senses.

Lunch was a communal vegetarian meal, where participants sat together with long-term community members. The real value here was in the conversations and exchanges between the participants and Ängsbacka members, an opportunity to get to know about sustainable living from first-hand stories and experiences.

Afternoon: Forest Walk, Exchanges and Reflections

The group ventured into the forest for a nature walk. The organisers led an activity inspired by their time at Sunseed: blindfolded sensory exploration. Participants were blindfolded and guided to connect with their senses by touching natural objects—smooth stones, rough bark, fresh leaves—handed to them by the organisers. The exercise encouraged introspection and a deeper appreciation for the environment.

Back in a circle, the conversation shifted to sustainable living, Erasmus+ opportunities, and what it’s really like to live in an ecovillage. People exchanged ideas, asked questions, and left feeling curious and inspired.

In the closing circle, participants shared their thoughts, feelings, and key takeaways. Many expressed renewed motivation to explore regenerative living further and adopt sustainable changes in their daily lives.

For the young organisers, stepping into leadership roles meant coordinating among themselves, balancing their time at Ängsbacka while organising the event, and stepping into facilitation for the first time for some. They shaped and led an impactful event from start to finish—which was challenging but left them feeling empowered and ready to take on future projects.
